Things I Actually Like, 4-5
This is Mount Adams.
It lives in Washington about two hours from my house, and I went to visit it over Easter weekend. Well, actually I went to visit my friend Haley, who was staying up there with her lovely family. They graciously invited me along. In fact, they've done this multiple times and it's starting to feel like a kind of home. We sat all morning in the glow of the outdoor fireplace, and then in the afternoon, we sat in the warmth of the sun. We laughed and cried and read sentences aloud from books. We picked eggs in beet juice.
I know Haley because of Twitter.
Almost every week, there's a group of us that calculate time zones across the globe to determine when we can all meet on google plus and be reasonably awake. We talk about dating and cooking and feminism and family and God. We pray for each other and offer criticism and hope. We use a lot of silly google effects. I don't think you could put a wilder group of people together if you tried.
I know them because of Twitter.
In three weeks I'll get on a plane and fly to Chicago to share with the Sacred Friends Conference. I'm beyond excited to sit on a panel discussion about Modesty, Beauty & Friendship and share my story (and probably some really dumb jokes). Attending a conference like this has been a dream of mine for a while, and speaking at it? Don't even get me started! It's basically going to be exactly like this.
I'm going to be at Sacred Friends because of Twitter.
I am a better, stronger, smarter person because of Twitter. I love the conversations that happen there, the tough and the silly, the raw and the beautiful. it's because of Twitter that I've found all of these cool things over the last few weeks. You know. The things I actually like:
This photo collection from Easter Weekend, made with the Pic Stitch App. (I won't tell you close we were before we figured out that those weren't cows in a field. Or geese. But it was pretty close.)
This bunny. IT'S SO CUTE I CAN'T STOP SQUEALING!!!
Joy the Baker Podcast This is my go-to jam for when I'm washing my hair, cleaning my house, or doing any other sort of task that would be horrible if I didn't pretend the Joy and Tracy were hanging out alongside me. Well. I don't pretend that they're with me when I'm washing my hair; that's just weird.
And you? What have you found on Twitter lately that made you smile or wonder?
